Refinement upgrades a weapon or a piece of defense equipment, raising its level and its power. It is the main way to make good gear better, and it is also the fastest way to lose it.

A failed refinement destroys the item permanently. There is no recovery and no refund. Never refine something you cannot afford to lose.

How the odds work

Success is a matter of probability, and the probability gets worse as the item climbs. The higher the current level of the item, the lower your chance of the next attempt working.

You can look up the exact materials any piece of equipment needs on the Thang Database. Gather everything before you start.

Where to refine

Refinement is done by a blacksmith NPC. Two of them are easy to reach early on.

Rian Village

Danduki, the village blacksmith.

Yerden

Shataram, who does the same job in Yerden Village.

Refining an item

When an attempt succeeds you get a confirmation window. Click OK, then open your inventory with 3 to see the upgraded item.
