Refinement with Hai Rings

What are Hai Rings and how do they work?

Each item has a fixed success rate when refining to the next level, and each Hai Ring also has its own fixed success rate.

A Hai Ring is an item that gives you a second chance when you refine an item, if the first attempt fails. The higher the number of Hai Ring, the better it is and better chance of success (see below for success rates for each Hai Ring).

When refining an item, place the Hai Ring into the small box in the middle. The chance of success of the second attempt with the Hai Ring used will be shown in parentheses next to the initial chance.

For example, if it shows 57%(88%), 57% is the base chance of success (for your first attempt) and 88% is the chance of success with the selected Hai ring (for your second attempt). The percentages do not add or multiply since they are separate from each other.

Hai Rings do not change or increase the chance of success per se, it only gives you a second refinement attempt at a fixed success rate regardless of the item you are refining or its base chance of success. This means that if you use a Hai Ring L9(+2) on an item that has a 57% success chance (as above), the first attempt will remain at a 57% success chance and the second attempt will have a 88% success chance (n = 880; success range = 0 to 879).

If your randomly generated number is between that range of numbers, the second attempt is a success and your refinement overall is successful.

Example: the system generated the number 350 during your Hai Ring attempt, so your refinement succeeds. The numbers that were generated during your refinement attempt are shown in the information box (top left, next to the HP/MP display) in the format (number1/number2). Number1 is the number that was generated for the refinement. Number2 is the numerical equivalent of the success chance ("n" as explained above).

Example from above scenario: Refine failed (770/570) Hai refine success (350/880) Some items do not allow the use of a Hai ring. If a Hai ring is used and the refinement succeeds on the first attempt, the Hai ring will not be returned to you.

So which Hai Ring should I use?

You should decide which Hai Ring to use based on the value and rarity of the item you are refining, and the cost and availability of Hai Rings. Since all Hai Rings have their own fixed success rates, you should evaluate which chance of success is worth the risk of a potential failure. Ideally, using L9(+2) will give you the best chance of success, however, it is not practical to use it for every refinement.

How is a Saviour Orb different from a Hai ring?

The Saviour Orb initially acts as a L9(+2) Hai ring, offering an 88% chance of success for a second refinement attempt if your first attempt fails. However, if the second attempt also fails, the item being refined will be given back to you instead of being lost completely (thus “saving” the item). It will return only the item being refined and not the materials used.

The Saviour Orb does NOT guarantee a successful refinement, it only guarantees that the item will not be lost during the refinement attempt.
